BIG ADVANCES IN DESIGN COMPETITION FOR ULSAN PERFORMING ARTS VENUE

BIG, together with Heerim and Theatre Projects, has been chosen to move into the second phase of the international design competition for the new Ulsan Performing Arts Venue in South Korea. Conceived as the bridge between all the elements on the site that comprise the past, present, and future of Ulsan, the design is defined by two ribbons that extend in opposite directions – one connecting to the urban fabric, the other reaching towards the river. Beneath them, a continuous public realm unfolds across plazas, promenades, and outdoor stages, allowing the building to become a space for gathering, listening, and celebrating culture and performance in all of its forms.
