BIG and Norwegian urban furniture manufacturer Vestre have launched NODE, a new bicycle rack shaped as a superellipse that balances the clarity of a square with the softness of a circle. Designed to accommodate two bicycles, one on either side, its broad surfaces provide multiple points for bicycles to lean against, while the rounded geometry helps reduce the risk of damage. Both the frame and wheel can be secured to the rack. NODE is the first in a new family of public objects developed to bring a distinct identity to everyday elements of the city, its name referring to a node as a point of connection within a network. The launch continues BIG and Vestre’s collaboration following The Plus, Vestre’s furniture factory in Magnor, Norway, which opened in 2022.
