Bilbao-based newspaper EL CORREO has published a feature on Gelephu Mindfulness City, exploring the project as a new model for future cities. As part of the story, BIG Partner and Head of Landscape Giulia Frittoli discusses her approach to urbanism and the principles behind the project, including the use of local materials and a six-story building height limit designed to keep the city human-scaled and closely connected to its natural surroundings. She also reflects on the earliest meetings and visits to Bhutan, the idea of “mindfulness” as a guiding framework, and the broader ambition for the project to act as a catalyst for the rest of the country, while also serving as an inspiration for other developing nations.
