Construction has officially begun on the 12,000-m² Marengo Multimodal Transport Hub in Toulouse, France. Located next to the city’s central Gare Matabiau, the new hub will bring together rail, metro, bus, bicycle, and pedestrian connections as part of the wider Grand Matabiau Quais d’Oc transformation. Developed with A+ Architecture, the hub is conceived primarily in mass timber and characterized by a rose-colored crystalline roof referencing Toulouse’s traditional “foraine” brick and distinctive roofscape. The building gradually rises towards the railway tracks, with cascading levels bringing daylight into the spaces below ground and connecting travelers to Gare Matabiau and the city’s metro network. Across the ground floor and two lower levels, 4,400 m² of public space will accommodate areas for travelers, retail, and cultural activities, while the project also includes regional offices and parking for 1,000 bicycles. The hub is scheduled for completion at the end of 2028.
