MIAMI BEACH DESIGN REVIEW BOARD APPROVES STANDARD HOTEL REDEVLOPMENT

01.10.2024

The Miami Beach Design Review Board unanimously approved plans for the redevelopment of The Standard Spa, which will be designed by BIG, Kobi Karp Architecture & Interior Design, and Fox Fox Studio.
Plans for the property include renovating the west wing and replacing the east wing with a five-story building, adding 50 new hotel room and six condominiums; adding onsite parking, which will reduce traffic on the Venetian Causeway; and expanding into the two adjacent properties, allowing for better back-of-house operations and creating an entrance for the residential component.
The property, located on Belle Isle in Miami Beach, was originally developed in 1953 as the Monterrey Motel and Yacht Club, before reopening as the Lido Spa in 1960 and The Standard Spa in 2005.
