Designboom has published an interview with BIG Partner Hanna Johansson on Park Rise, BIG’s residential project for The Ellinikon in Athens. Located within the transformation of the city’s former international airport, the 88-home development forms part of Little Athens, a new neighborhood within the wider masterplan for what is set to become one of Europe’s largest urban regeneration projects. The interview explores the design of Park Rise as a vertical extension of the surrounding landscape, with cascading homes and private gardens opening toward views of the sea and mountains. Hanna also discusses how the project seeks to challenge the conventional residential tower by combining density with generous outdoor space and shared amenities.
