Ahead of the upcoming groundbreaking at 175 Third Street, foundation and remediation work is underway at the Brooklyn development. Designed by BIG in collaboration with dencityworks, the 27-story mixed-use building steps down towards the Gowanus Canal in cascading concrete volumes, visually breaking down the scale and creating a dynamic silhouette that responds to its industrial context. The horseshoe-shaped geometry maximizes access to light, air, and outdoor space while making room for a 28,000-sq-ft public park designed by Field Operations with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. Developed by Charney Companies and Tavros, 175 Third Street will include more than 1,000 residential units, approximately 250 of which will be affordable – contributing to the rehabilitation of the canal while supporting the continued evolution of the historic Brooklyn neighborhood.
