THE BATTERY PARK CITY AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES PROJECT LABOR AGREEMENT FOR BATTERY PARK CITY RESILIENCY PROJECT
The Battery Park City Authority has announced a Project Labor Agreement for the $1.7 billion Battery Park City North/West Resiliency Project (NWBPCR), the first major project in New York City to use the progressive design-build model. Led by the Turner Construction Company–SPC Construction Co. LLC joint venture and designed by Arcadis, BIG, SCAPE Landscape Architecture, and others, NWBPCR will build an integrated coastal flood risk management system along the iconic Battery Park City Esplanade, from First Place to North Moore Street and east to Greenwich Street. Protecting New Yorkers from coastal flooding, heat events, and heavy rainfall, NWBPCR will implement flood barrier walls, improve accessibility, and enhance public space through enriched landscaping and native plantings. This milestone builds on BIG’s coastal resiliency work in New York City, following the reopening of East River Park earlier this year.
