The Sea Ranch Lodge, set on 53 acres of the dramatic Northern California coastline in Sonoma County, has unveiled a plan to add 23 new guest rooms with uninterrupted ocean views and additional amenity spaces for guests as an expansion to the existing lodge. Carefully developed since 2022 in close collaboration with The Sea Ranch Lodge and with input from the community, the design is grounded in a deep appreciation for the landscape as well as the architectural and planning principles that have shaped the community for nearly seven decades. Each building is mindfully positioned to minimize its impact on the meadow while respecting the existing hedgerow that has defined this part of the property since its founding. The project draws from the architectural history and design language of The Sea Ranch through its use of local wood cladding, simple building forms oriented along natural contours, and rooflines that follow the slope of the land, remaining in harmony with their surroundings. The expansion builds on The Lodge’s longstanding role as a community hub, thoughtfully carrying it forward for future generations of The Sea Ranch.
