TIDSSKRIFTET LANDSKAB FEATURES THE BIG HQ PARK IN COPENHAGEN
The park at the foot of BIG’s headquarters in Copenhagen was highlighted in a six-page story in the November issue of Tidsskriftet Landskab, the magazine published by the Danish Association of Landscape Architects. Designed by BIG’s internal team of landscape architects, the park has been transformed from a former parking area into a local oasis and viewpoint where employees, residents, and visitors can enjoy the waterfront. By dividing it into two zones, the park mirrors the Danish coastal landscape’s interplay between forest and beach. To the north, trees such as pine and oak have been planted, along with wind-tolerant and shade-loving perennials that provide shelter and act as a buffer against the industrial surroundings of the harbor. To the south, the landscape opens up with lower plantings of shrubs, grasses, and herbs. At the heart of the park stands the ‘Stone 40’ sculpture by artist Benjamin Langholz, acting as a playful path that challenges the senses.
