 — The site is an irregularly shaped plot of approximately 3700 m2, located at the northeast corner boundary of the East Side Masterplan area, directly adjacent to Warschauer Brücke.

 — Splitting the extruded form into six-storey blocks creates a stack of 'Kievs,‘ or Berlin city-blocks.' External spaces between these blocks break up the mass of the building into units of a more familiar scale.

 — The upper ‘blocks’ extend outwards on the south and east to maximise development area and create a dramatic form.

 — Shifting the ‘blocks’ upwards and downwards disperses the external spaces between all of the floorplates, facilitates connections between floors, and creates a unique roof profile.

 — EDGE East Side Berlin is integrated within the existing urban fabric in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, while inviting both the local community and tower occupants inside with publicly accessible amenities at the top and bottom of the building.

 — With 80,560 m2 of available development area and limitations due to the train station access across the building, extruding the base area upwards maximises the available volume and defines the scale of the tower.

 — The stepped form of the roofscape creates an opportunity for terraces and spectacular views in connection with a publicly accessible bar and restaurant on the top floor. The slender base of the building accommodates shared amenities with proximity to the main access and egress routes for occupiers.
